Senior Maintenance Technician (Level 4)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Maintenance Technician (Level 4) to join our team in the Boise, Idaho area. The ideal candidate will be an advanced technician with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and electronic controls, capable of handling a wide range of maintenance tasks. This role is not only focused on advanced repairs but also includes leadership responsibilities, overseeing daily operations, mentoring junior technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a high-paced manufacturing environment.
As a Level 4 technician, you will be responsible for complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on dairy and cheese production machinery, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance. This role requires expertise across various maintenance functions and the ability to lead by example while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on dairy and cheese production machinery, including thermoforming equipment, to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Preventive Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks, such as replacing motors, switches, and other components, to maintain the reliability of production equipment.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Lead day-to-day operations in the maintenance department, act as a mentor to Level 1, 2, and 3 technicians, and assist in developing their technical skills.
- Process Improvement: Analyze breakdowns, implement process improvements, and work on projects that enhance machine efficiencies, ergonomics, and reduce repetitive breakdowns.
- Program Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the preventive maintenance program to improve equipment reliability.
- Safety & Compliance: Foster a safe working environment and adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring employee health and safety at all times.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Maximo to manage tasks and record maintenance activities.
Shift Details:
- Graveyard Shift: 12-hour shifts, requiring flexibility to work weekends (either Saturday or Sunday).
- Schedule:
- Start of Week: Sunday to Tuesday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
- End of Week: Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Thursday to Saturday from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Requirements:
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance within a high-speed manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Industry Experience: Experience with thermoforming processes is highly desirable. Experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment is also preferred.
- Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school required.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information.
Maintenance Competencies:
- Fabrication: Welding, milling, lathe operation, modifying parts, and system design.
- Electronics & Electrical: Proficient with voltmeters, PLC troubleshooting, relay logic panels, motors, level sensors, flow meters, and PID loops.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Adjusting flow, repairing, and upgrading components.
- Plumbing: Replacing piping (copper, galvanized, steel, stainless) and system design.
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs): Programming VFDs, chart recorders, temperature controllers, and flow meters.
Salary: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience.
Relocation: Must be open to relocation to Boise, Idaho. Relocation assistance is available.
