Product Manager (Motor Sports)  

Product Manager Overview:
This role is based in Boise, Idaho, with occasional travel. As the Product Manager, you will lead the development and execution of our company’s brand strategy, working closely with the Research and Development (R&D) team to innovate and refine product formulations. You will also collaborate with the Sales team to align product offerings with the overall Business Plan. This role demands a strategic mindset, with responsibilities ranging from managing raw material requirements to overseeing product prototyping, all while ensuring high visibility within the organization.

Must have experience and knowledge of Motor Sports (eg: Jet ski's ATV's, Motorcycles)

Key Competencies:

  • Lead the execution of product development projects in the pipeline for 2025 and beyond.
  • Collaborate with the product development team on the 3-year innovation pipeline.
  • Develop a 7-10-year product development innovation strategy in consultation with the Head of R&D and the Head of Category Management. 
  • Advanced MS Excel skills

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years in the Powersports industry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Advanced Excel a must, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience in software and web development is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both management and non-management staff.
  • Technical knowledge of motorsport products and accessories is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development Strategy:

  • Develop comprehensive product strategy documents detailing business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue projections, and ROI.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs and assess competitor offerings, finding opportunities for differentiation.
  • Evaluate resource capacity, anticipate future needs, and drive product innovation in collaboration with Engineering.
  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial and innovative culture within the product development process.

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage all stages of the product lifecycle, from conception to release and obsolescence, including product and market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, and product launches.
  • Adjust inventory levels and production schedules to maintain product availability.
  • Develop rolling 24-month forecasts for annual and new product releases.

Product Data Management:

  • Maintain comprehensive product data, including fitment information, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Support the product information management team and maintain up-to-date website data.

Product Releases:

  • Coordinate new product releases with R&D, Sales, and Operations (including manufacturing and supply chain).
  • Drive continuous improvement in the new product development process using agile/scrum methodology.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Quality teams to ensure timely and specification-compliant product delivery.
  • Oversee essential tasks for new formulations, product changes, pilot production, and trial product production, ensuring alignment with internal requirements and cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with the Sales team and customers to ensure product understanding and benefits, providing training for both internal teams and external B2B customers.

Sales Support/Marketing:

  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies to meet product objectives.
  • Collaborate on sales channel management, technical support, and the implementation of product improvements to enhance customer experience.
  • Conduct customer surveys and outreach to gather feedback and recommend improvements for product performance and customer experience.
  • Define product marketing communication objectives and provide management with necessary analysis and reports.
  • Travel as required to support product initiatives.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
 
Salary: DOE ($70k to $85k)
