Position: Manual Machinist
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Starting Pay: $20.00/hr PLUS – DOE

We are currently seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual machine tools to produce precise metal parts and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machines such as:
    • Drill presses, radial drills, engine lathes
    • Vertical and horizontal milling machines
    • Surface grinders, vertical turret lathes, horizontal boring mills
    • Hydraulic presses and pedestal grinder
    • Machining odd-shaped or square stock.
    • Experience with soft jaws or custom fixturing.
    • Basic trigonometry and geometry for part layout and setup.

Reading Blueprints & Tolerances:

  • Interpreting part drawings and understanding dimensional requirements.
  • Knowledge of tolerances and runout limits.

Chuck Operation:

  • Familiarity with both 3-jaw (self-centering) and 4-jaw (independent) chucks.
  • Knowing when to use each type.

Manual Centering & Indicating:

  • Using a dial indicator to center irregular or round stock.
  • Adjusting each jaw independently to achieve concentricity.
  • Precision alignment of off-center or asymmetrical workpieces.

Measuring Tools Proficiency:

  • Confident use of micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and edge finders.

Material Knowledge:

  • Understanding how different materials react to clamping pressure and machining forces.
  • Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools to ensure compliance with tight tolerances
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and trucks as needed
  • Work independently and manage time effectively to meet production goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in machine setup and manual operation
  • Proficient in the use of manual machine equipment
  • Strong skills in measurement, math, and analysis
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical blueprints
  • CNC experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
