Job Title: Maintenance Technician 1
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: Temporary for 3-4 Weeks
Start Date: November 5, 2025
Location: Yakima, WA
Hourly Rate: $20.00 to $20.00/hr
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dependable Maintenance Technician 1 to join our Facilities team at our Yakima campus. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and a strong work ethic. You will play a key role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of campus facilities, while providing essential support for campus events.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements:
- At least two (2) years of related experience preferred.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance work orders.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (tables, chairs, etc.) and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations, including inclement weather events, and assist with clean-up efforts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.
- Willingness to take on additional duties as required by the department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintenance Work Orders: Respond to and complete maintenance requests submitted by faculty, staff, and students in a timely and efficient manner.
- Building Maintenance: Clean and maintain campus buildings following established schedules, ensuring they meet cleanliness and safety standards.
- Event Support: Assist with the set-up and clean-up of campus events, including moving chairs, tables, signage, and other event-related materials.
- Emergency and Inclement Weather Response: Respond to emergencies, including inclement weather events, and assist with general clean-up and maintenance tasks as necessary.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned based on the department's needs and operational requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor work during inclement weather.
