Fitter
Location: Spokane, WA
Pay Range: $22.00 – $31.00 per hour plus $3.00/hr shift diff
Day Shift: Monday–Thursday 3:30pm to 2:00am
Overview
We are seeking experienced Fitters to join a structural fabrication team in Spokane, WA. Fitters play a key role in the layout, assembly, and fitting of steel components for large fabrication projects. This position offers steady, full-time work with competitive pay, advancement potential, and a safety-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Use measuring tools, squares, and tapes to lay out and fit structural steel components according to blueprints and shop drawings
- Tack parts into place using welding equipment to prepare for final welds
- Burn and cut steel using an oxy-fuel cutting torch as needed for fitting and assembly
- Ensure work meets precise tolerances and quality standards
- Interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately to ensure proper fit and alignment
- Collaborate with welders and fabrication team to ensure projects meet schedule and specifications
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards
- Operate or assist with overhead cranes and material handling equipment (experience a plus)
- Lift and move steel materials up to 50 lbs safely and efficiently
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of fitting or structural fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow layout instructions
- Experience using measuring tools, squares, and layout instruments
- Basic welding and tacking proficiency required
- Knowledge of torch cutting and steel preparation
- Strong math and problem-solving skills – able to think on the fly during builds
- Overhead crane experience preferred
- Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening and background check
