Atlas Staffing is hiring a Design Engineer for a leading aerospace composites manufacturer in Post Falls, Idaho. This role focuses on designing and developing thermoplastic composite components for commercial and defense aerospace programs, supporting both R&D initiatives and high-rate production environments.
Core Objectives:
- Develop and refine advanced thermoplastic composite designs that support manufacturability, processing efficiency, and aerospace performance requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, tooling, automation, and production teams to ensure designs align with high-rate automated forming and consolidation processes.
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, and documentation in compliance with FAA, EASA, and AS9100 standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design and model complex aerospace components optimized for thermoforming, stamp forming, automated layup, and other production methods used at the facility
- Conduct structural and thermal analysis using FEA tools such as Abaqus or ANSYS to validate performance and improve robustness.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on DFM/DFA, tooling concepts, process refinement, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with prototype builds, test planning, data collection, and certification documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate design documentation, configuration control, and engineering change records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in composite design engineering, ideally with exposure to thermoplastic composites or advanced aerospace materials.
- Strong proficiency in CAD modeling and FEA, with the ability to interpret aerospace specifications and customer requirements.
- Must meet ITAR-defined U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
Shift & Pay:
Shift: Full-time – Direct Hire Permanent Placement.
Pay: $80,000 – $115,000 per year
