Logistics Assistant
Location: Airway Heights WA
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 4:00am – 2:30pm
Wage: $24-$26 DOE
Position Summary
The Logistics Assistant/Shipping Coordinator is responsible for organizing, staging, and coordinating the safe and timely shipment of fabricated steel to jobsites, storage yards, and intermediate locations. This role works closely with Project Managers and shop leadership to ensure deliveries align with project schedules and production flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate loading and outbound transportation of trailers to jobsites and storage yards
- Communicate with Project Managers regarding delivery dates, times, and sequencing
- Generate accurate packing lists for each outbound load using Tekla EPM
- Work with the Shop Foreman to locate and resolve missing or incomplete assemblies
- Organize completed assemblies by project, zone, and delivery sequence
- Coordinate loading schedules for deliveries to and from intermediate destinations
- Conduct weekly inventories of completed steel by project to support schedule planning
- Follow the master production and delivery sequence to plan loads and shipment timing
- Direct and support a small team of 2–8 laborers during loading operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of shop flow and fabrication processes
- Knowledge of safe material handling and steel loading practices
- Ability to operate forklifts, moving equipment, and overhead cranes
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Experience with scheduling and logistics coordination
- Proven ability to lead and manage a small crew in a fast-paced environment
Quality Responsibilities
- Ensure materials are stored and loaded in a manner that minimizes damage or distortion
- Perform visual inspections of steel and report any abnormalities or concerns to Quality Assurance
